Pirog large (brioche-style pie, deep filled) 8-10 ppl

Our signature pirog pies. Comfort food par excellence. Rich brioche dough, whole milk, free range eggs and unsalted (sweet) butter.

How many portions?

1 large pirog pie, pletyonka (plaited pie) is approx. 30cm long - gives generous 8 slices.

How to store: wrapped well in cling film in the fridge for 2-3 days.

How to re-heat:  heat the (non-fan) oven to 170-180C, transfer the pie carefully onto a baking sheet and heat up for apptx 15 mins, until cooked through. Check if ready to eat by inserting a knife into a thick part of the filling: if it comes out still cold, then leave the warm up for a few more minutes. If the blade is warm, it’s ready to eat.

Ingredients: flour (wheat), milk, butter, eggs, salt, sugar, fresh yeast.

Filling 1: cabbage (white), egg, onion, butter, sunflower oil, salt, pepper. 

Filling 2: free-range, British beef chuck, carrots, onions, sunflower oil, salt, pepper. 

Filling 3: potatoes, mushrooms, onions, butter, oil, pepper, salt.
