A gorgeous pie fit for any celebration, such as:
- special birthdays
- hen or stag parties
- corporate launch
Kurnik is an Slavic recipe for a celebratory layered pie: buttery puff pastry, poached chicken, long-grained rice, eggs, mushrooms and herbs. Each layer is filled with the gorgeous Béchamel sauce and separated by a thin pancake to retain the juices.
Many think the name comes from the word Kuritsa - chicken in Russian - but no....Kurit is to smoke, because the pie has smoke coming out theatrically from the depths of its belly...
